JULY 10, 2010---HILLBILLY DAYLILIES ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL BLOOMIN' BASH TO BENEFIT THE BERKELEY COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
A fun event for the whole family to benefit the Berkeley County Humane Society in Bunker HIll West Virginia,
This July 10, 2010, Hillbilly Daylilies will present their second annual “Bloomin’ Bash” to benefit the Berkeley County Humane Society. Hillbilly Daylilies, located in Bunker Hill, WV, specializes in field grown daylilies and every July invites customers to visit and experience over 350 varieties of daylilies in peak bloom. Customers are able to purchase the daylilies of their choice and Hillbilly Daylilies digs and prepares them on the spot.
The Bloomin’ Bash being held on July 10th, will not only showcase thousands of beautiful flowers in bloom, but also give visitors the chance to participate in several educational workshops ranging from caring for the modern day iris to deterring deer from gardens. Hillbilly Daylilies owner and event coordinator, Lisa Giles, is excited about hosting the second Bloomin’ Bash, “Last year’s event was described as a “bloomin’ hit” by the Martinsburg Journal and I expect this one to be an even greater success.” Linda Wilk of Falling Waters attended last year and said “It was a wonderful event and is sure to become a staple in the line of summer must-dos in the panhandle.”
Admission is $5 per person and children under 5 years old are admitted free. Gates open at 9am and the event lasts until 6pm. Food and ice cream will be available from Big Daddy’s BBQ and Rock Hill Creamery with live bluegrass music by The Back Creek Valley Boys and The Speakeasy Boys. Antique tractors and Steam Engines will be on display and daylilies will be for sale. The Berkeley-Jefferson Master Gardener Association will be on hand giving out lots of gardening information and answering questions. Vendors will be selling everything from handcrafted log birdhouses to herb vinegars and dip mixes.
Workshops for adults include Introduction to the Modern Day Iris 10am; Basic Propagation 101 11am; Aromatherapy and Essential Oils 12pm; Deterring Deer 1pm; Tea in the Garden 2pm; and Rain Barrels 3pm. The Kids’ Tent, hosted by WVU Extension Agent Denis Scott will engage children in fun, hands- on garden projects.
